Chronic fatigue — Reasons affecting your General Well-Being.
Overview
It is generally termed as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome of Holmes et al. The condition is associated with a particular type of occupation, lifestyle, mental or physical stress or any amount of pre-existing psychiatric evidence. Fatigue is general weariness and tiredness. These include myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), post viral fatigue syndrome (PVFS), chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction (CFIDS), post-infectious fatigue syndrome (PIFS), neurasthenia, fibrositis myalgia and "Yuppie flu”.
Symptoms
The major criteria: this onset-fatigue lasts for six months and fifty percent reduction in activity. The symptoms are low grade fever (around 37.5 to 38.6 degree Celsius.), sore throat, painful cervical axillary lymphadenopathy and certain amount of generalized muscle weakness, muscle pain that is myalgias, fatigue lasting for twenty four hours, headaches, migratory arthralgia, sleep disturbances which could be hypersomnia or insomnia. There are neuropsychological complaints like the photophobia, visual scotomas, forgetfulness, irritability and confusion, disorder in concentrating, depression and acute onset for a few days or few hours. The causative agent a type of herpes virus is generally accepted as causing infectious mononucleosis or glandular fever that is a condition seen most commonly in adolescents and younger adults. The antibody titers to cytomegalovirus, measles virus and many various herpes virus are often elevated in patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. In certain cases the most profound symptoms are as follows-- balance disturbances, claudication, gastrointestinal disorders and fluid retention. The differential diagnosis in the first case should always include recurrent and chronic labyrinthitis.There may a lot of other psychiatric ailments the individual might experience.
Treatment
The treatment includes the use of anti-depressants which are non-sedating such as desipramine hydrochloride or fluotexine hydrochloride and especially the Prozac. It also includes the use of antibiotic therapy consisting of interferons, interleukic-2-acyclovi, immunoviral drug like the inosine pranobex, immunosuppressive such as cyclophosphamide, azathioprine and corticosteroids drugs , vitamins in the most 'special diets', treatments aimed to eliminate candida and other fungal infections are useful. The ampligen intravenous therapy with pooled immunoglobin, calcium blocking agents to course exercise induced fatigue. Restoring to a particular exercise regime and doing certain muscle building and strengthening activities may also help in building the body activity towards it.
